- Joined the Canadian Forest Service in 1992
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the impact, sensitivity, adaptation and sequestration responses of natural and pedigree populations of at risk and/or keystone tree species to climate change, specifically morphological, allocation, and physiological G x E responses
- Assess and monitor the impact on species, populations and stand diversity resulting from various forest harvesting practices on various forest species
- Evaluate the impact on the future range and abundance of tree species, and particularly those that are at risk, in eastern Canada for different scenarios, specifically various genetic complexes (populations and controlled crosses) in red spruce, black spruce, their hybrids, and pine to environmental factors
- Report on the genetic control of important adaptive traits, total yield of carbon (above and below ground) for 30+ year-old spruce families. This research will provide insights into adaptation and provide forest management recommendations to mitigate and adapt to environmental changes for productivity, diversity, and total carbon sequestration for important forest tree species.
