Screening for resistance

Sources tested for Resistance in Western North America

John King, G. Kiss, Barry Jaquish, and Cheng Ying of the British Columbia Ministry of Forests collected seed from potentially resistant trees throughout the range of Sitka spruce, a coastal species and from several locations for interior spruce (Sitka x White hybrids).

Seed collected was planted in 14 trials from British Columbia to Oregon, and screened by Canadian Forest Service personnel. Additional test sites were planted in Washington state, but these have not yet been evaluated.
