The objective of this study was to characterize the mating behavior of the longhorned beetle pest of green mate, Hedypathes betulinus. In particular, the role of cuticular hydrocarbons in the location and acceptance of mates. The primary results of this study are that cuticular hydrocarbons play a key role in mate location and acceptance. The results of this study contribute to our understanding of the biology of this pest, and the mating behavior of this important group of forest insect pests.
