Modelling of the dynamics of forest insect populations

Description

  1. Develop simulation models of the seasonal biology and basic demographic processes of forest insects (gypsy moth, spruce budworm, forest tent caterpillar and mountain pine beetle) in order to better understand the probable impact of climate change on their distribution areas and the risks they pose to Canada’s forest resources.
  2. Develop a model of the interactions between Bacillus thuringiensis and the gypsy moth in order to optimize the effectiveness and safety of spray applications used to protect forests.
