Description:
- 8 - 13 cm
- high domed, brownish carapace, while the plastron is reduced and hinged
behind the front legs
- large, pointed head with 2 light stripes on each side
Habitat:
- shallow, weedy lakes, ponds and streams with muddy bottom
- not often seen basking and spends most time in water
Conservation concerns, distribution and status:
- uncommon and local in parts of southern Ontario
