Description:
- 13 - 20 cm
- rough, brown carapace with scutes which have ridges that resemble
irregular pyramids
- reddish orange neck and forelegs
Habitat:
- most terrestrial of Ontario's turtles
- open woodlands, meadows around gravel bottomed streams
Conservation concerns, distribution and status:
- found in isolated colonies in southern and central Ontario
- has recently been designated as Vunerable by the Committee on the
Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada
