• 8 - 12 cm, one of Ontario's smallest turtles
• black carapace and bright yellow spots on head, neck, and legs

Habitat:

• shallow marshes, bogs, beaver ponds and wet woodlands

Conservation concerns, distribution and status:

• rare and local in a few southern Ontario wetlands
