Resilience of soil carbon reservoirs in eastern Canada's forests
Description
-
Describe the effects of temperature on the dynamics of soil organic matter decomposition according to gradients of forest biomes as well as climatic ranges within biomes and over a sequence of stand development stages using controlled laboratory conditions.
-
Build a soil C budget model for the investigated sites with the results of the laboratory incubation experiments and validate this model with empirical measurements of C pools and fluxes.
-
Provide a template for determining the effects of climate change on soil C pools across a climatic gradient in eastern Canada.
