Remarks: In Pseudotsuga menziesii & Pinus ponderosa forest. Stipes with brown exterior, gills bright orange. Pileus with small umbo to slightly depressed, pale yellow, some pale olive tint on disc. Mycelium at stipe base pallid. Fresh spore print on glass white (enclosed).

Remarks: On wood at base of dead stem. Assoc. with white rot. Hymenium smooth, 40u thick, Warm Buff. Margin adnate. Carp ca 4 x 1 cm, 100-220 u thick. Mounts (vert-sections and margin) in SO4 with NO cell contents blackening. No gloeocyst seen. No brown hyphae. Mostly 10.5 u thick-walled, densely packed, branched, woven. Some encrusted segments in subic and margin. Thick walls pallid in KOH. Spore wall thin, hyaline, smooth. Field collection no. 11436

Remarks: On ground at base of dead Populus tremuloides on earth dam of pond. Habitat not strictly grassy but cows graze area. Cluster various ages. Cap smooth, staining distinct yellow, largest 39 cm diam, like kid leather with scattered oppressed white, scales stipe surfacestaining yellow but not intensely so, core white not staining, with hollow centre when broad. KOH (2% +) yellow on cap near margin of stipe surface, but not on stipe flesh at base. Odour: flesh cap and stipe base nil. Veil skirtlike. Spores broad ellip, smooth. Stipe slightly broader at midpoint, 9 x 2 cm., surface smooth, white.

Remarks: On well-rotted log (Populus trichocarpa?). 2 carps (1 collected). Cap 7 cm diam, shiny, glabrous, smoke grey is closest but not exact, blackish grey on disk. Stipe 8 x 1.2 cm, exterior white, finely longitudinally striate, glabrous, widening to 1.4 cm at gills, not staining where bruised. Gills white, subdistant, sinuate to adnate; sides with fine vertical lines/ribs/folds: edges thin, slightly undulating. 4 mm core hollow, with flesh 3-4 mm thick on each side. Flesh white, 2 mm thick, no odour. Gills 1-1.2 cm deep.

Remarks: On interior of crumbly, brown-rotted log. Pores arise as pits in cottony subic, soft. Pale brownish yellow. Fine strands. Subic soft cottony. Pore dissip elongated where on vertical surface. Hyphal strands pallid to pale yellow, 230 ud, composed of parallel hyp. w clamps. Walls thin to 0.5 u thick, core of 10-20 hyp 10-13 ud, constricted of septa, surrounded by hyp 2-7 ud.

Remarks: On bark on lower surface of recently fallen dead twig, 15 mm diam. When fresh adnate, to 1.5 cm diam. Deep reddish grey, smooth to tuberculate, tubercles small (+/- 1 mm diam.) when dry. Margins incurled, hym dark grey with lilac tint. Peniophora pithya but no lampro cyst. Monomitic, hyphae 3-5 um, thin-walled. Field collection no. 10963

Remarks: Found uprooted on hardpacked trail in second-growth stand of 80% Douglas-fir, 20% Ponderosa pine. Rind firm, 4 mm thick, pallid, crisp with paper-thin grey inner layer which surrounds capillitium; this layer is loose from rind. Capillitium black, stringy, flexible. Spore mass black. Odour strong, acrid, pungent, unfamiliar. Carp 4 cm diameter, pallid. No collumella. Epidermis grey in patches, paper-thin. Hole in carp and scrapings on exterior by squirrel?
